Setting your Working Directory

(Please place this in your User's Guide)

If, for some reason, Paradox is not able to find the directory you  normally go to when it loads, it will default to the directory where  Paradox is loaded. When you try to access anything besides the menu, you will get an error message telling you that the file either doesn't exist or cannot be found. This means that your working directory is wrong and needs to be set.

To find out what your Working Directory is, open or click on the  Project Viewer. At the bottom of the Project Viewer frame, you will  see: Working Directory: C:\Winjury. Where C:\Winjury is the working  directory. Yours may be different. If you are accessing Paradox on a network, it may be something like: J:\Clerk\Winjury.

Write down your working directory here: ___________________________________

To set your working directory, click on "File" at the top of the Paradox window. Then click "Working Directory". You  can either type in your working directory or use the  "Browse" button to locate it. Click the OK button when you  have entered the working directory.

If you have files open, Paradox will give you a message saying that all files will be closed when you change to the new directory and ask  if you want to do this. Click Yes or Ok.
